Clipsource gives news editors instant access to great videos from other media companies. It also allows media companies to sell or share videos produced in-house or sourced from their readers. If you’re a content creator or news agency you can use Clipsource to find more buyers of your news videos.
Re-engineering the news video market
Many of the most important news videos through history were filmed by amateurs. The Kennedy assassination, the Concorde crash and the Tsunami are just a few examples. With more than one billion video enabled mobile phones in the world, media consumers have now become the most important source for news videos. We believe local newspapers are well positioned to source user videos from their readers, just as they receive other news tips. We even suggest it’s necessary in a time when crowdsourcing has become a mantra. Once you have interesting videos, Clipsource opens up the opportunity for publishers to easily sell or share those videos without delay and benefit from an unparalleled flow of content that drives the most traffic and, hence, advertising revenues.
Your source for great video content
By joining Clipsource you get access to news videos produced and sourced by a network of newspapers, broadcasters and news agencies, all sharing similar principles of news valuing. Certain content is free to use while other videos are charged for. Any purchase is done on an individual clip basis, so joining Clipsource means no commitment. When acquiring a video, you buy the right to publish the video in your own media, in your own territory.
Make money on your video content
If you own content, produced in-house or sourced from your users, Clipsource allows you to sell or share those videos with other publishers in the Clipsource network. You have full control over the distribution and can decide exactly who shall have access, from all participants down to individual media companies. You can exclude territories or publishers as you like.
Professional users only
Clipsource does not source news videos directly from individuals, nor do we allow individuals to sell content on Clipsource. If you as an individual have managed to capture a special moment on video we recommend you contact your local news publisher to let them assess the news value.
Background
Clipsource was launched in Sweden in 2009 as a source for publishers to download free, broadcast quality videos from TV networks, film distributors, record labels and other organisations in need of effective PR distribution of clips. In only 12 months more than 170 media companies signed up for access, making Clipsource the number one professional source for video content in Scandinavia.
By adding buy, sell and share functionality, we intend to build the world’s first international news video market place, by and for professional news publishers.
